Alaska 2.o
The stars at night are big and bright, clap, clap, clap, clap, deep in the
heart of Texas, but Alaska's Aurora Borealis puts it all to shame...
Let's begin with getting tickets to my beloved Alaska. Purchased in January
2014. Non stop going and one stop in Portland coming back. Is it too early to start packing?
March 2014 the airline called to tell us they have changed our return flight. Whuh?
Apparently or the story I was given to try to pacify me was the majority of airlines this Spring were backlogged due to the ice storm the country suffered through this year. What does that have to do with us? You took our money with no problems or early warning of impending delays. Whatever the lie, we got bumped. This particular bump would cause us to miss the second leg of our flight from Anchorage to Portland, then Portland to Dallas. We wouldn't even be at the airport when the Portland flight left so the hunt was on to get us home without taking a day off our vacation. I agreed to extend or take a red eye.
AN HOUR OF WAITING...with irritating elevator music...
The re-flight guy finally got us a return trip from Anchorage to Chicago then to Portland. The end.
Huh? Turn off the elevator music and listen to me. We live in Dallas.
PLEASE HOLD.. for oh, let's say, one hour forty two minutes......
Okay ma'am we have you NOW Anchorage to Seattle to Portland.
Sir? We live in DALLAS. And does your bad attitude come inclusive to this search?
MA'AM ALLOW ME TO CALL YOU BACK.
SIR, I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO CALL ME BACK.
Tortured me on purpose with the elevator music - at least play Sultans of Swing or Camp Town Races.
TWENTY MINUTES LATER and a better attitude..
Ma'am, we found a non-stop from Anchorage to Dallas leaving at 8:35 PM arriving at 5:55AM Texas Time.
Book it - wrap it - cook it, whatever it takes.
Thank you Ma'am for flying American Airlines.
Thank you Sir for picking goobers, sipping coffee and twiddling your thumbs.
Why was that so hard?
FYI - HusBob was planning on going to work the day we arrived home with our original flight plan - is he mental? Most definitely. With a little prodding and some finagling at work, he'd return to the grind the following day.
I'm going to pack. I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting journey if just getting there was a trip and a half.
